Hi everyone!

This is Sebastian here (Quartermaster)
So Sorry I wanted to brief certain things with you guys but it slipped off my mind so to whoever is reading this, do spread the message to your friends and loved ones. :)

okay!
First and foremost,

A list of things to make sure BEFORE reaching HongKong

-Make sure that all of you have your scores, if any of you still don't have your respective scores (which shouldn't be the case) Please sms me (98558740) or Adeline (98751634) IMMEDIATELY.

-Please also ensure that your scores are the updated ones* (whatever that JunYuan added in/changed during practice) and that they are kept in files (School's one). If your file isn't the school's one, never mind, they must at least be safe in a file.

-Do take note that Adeline won't be bringing any extra scores to HongKong so please help her and don't lose your scores.

-Also ensure your instruments are well taken care of and properly labelled. I can't stress this enough, even personal instruments are to be labelled "NYCO" This is to play safe as we don't want to lose any instruments, ESP school ones.

-If any of you have special requests for your instruments (accessories or anything that your instrument specially needs, like Yangqin tuner etc..) do inform me or Lao shi ASAP! I'll try my best to minimize the things you need to carry.

-I'll be bringing school tuners there so you guys don't need to bring any (Unless you really want to, but it'll be one more thing to worry about, so it's your choice la)

Secondly, things to take note DURING the trip in HongKong

-Please take care of the school tuners! I took a VERY long time to dig them out, so please DON'T lose them! After every performance, please return ALL school tuners back to me, don't hold onto them. I will double check every now and then.

-If any strings break in HongKong, look for me. I should have enough, except for certain instruments like YangQin. To those holding onto strings, you all can pass the strings to me and I'll help you keep them. :)
(well, if you trust me enough...)

Lastly, I'll be bringing the toolbox to HongKong.
IF you see the toolbox lying around unattended, and somehow I forgot about it.
Please inform me cuz I can be 'quite' blur sometimes. All of you or most of you know how the toolbox looks like right? =)
Help me do my job better and remind me to always have the toolbox under care and protection.

Final reminder: Cushion your instruments (if needed) and loosen all strings before we board the plane, try not to break anything Before and After the whole trip. The lesser the casualties, the better.

Exit Permit Application Procedure

Exit Permit requirement for National Service Pre-enlistees aged between 13 and 16.5 years
If you are between 13 and 16.5 years old (W.E.F. 15 Aug 2006):
You need to apply for an exit permit if you intend to travel or remain overseas for 3 months or longer. If you are remaining overseas for 2 years or longer, your parents/guardians will also need to furnish a bond, in the form of a Banker's Guarantee of S$75,000 or 50% of the combined annual gross income of both parents for the preceding year, whichever is higher.

If you are above 16.5 and have not enlisted for NS:
You need to apply for an exit permit if you intend to travel or remain overseas for 3 months or longer. Here are the information that i have collated from www.ns.sg. you can visit there if still in doubt. in conclusion, we are only going for 5 days on a school based trip. so accordingly, there will be no need for the application of Exit Permit. so for J2 guys who cannot confirm because of this, please confirm with your SLs ASAP! With regards to the overseas trip that was postponed earlier this year, here are the new plans in December 2009.

Destination: Hong Kong

Price: $1200

Subsidies: Tentative 80%
(singaporeans only have to pay $200! edusave can be used.)

Date: Tentative 6th-10th December 2009

Performance: 20 minutes at HK Disneyland

More details will be given when the date is nearer. Please consider and get back to your sectional leaders if you are interested and able to go by the end of this week so that adminstration work and consent forms can be issued.

We are being invited by NY Red Cross Humanitarian Network to perform at their HQ 60th anniversary celebration on the:
1st of August @ East Coast, Big Splash.
Performance Time: 1130am

Both food and CIP hours would be provided. For J2s who still do not have enough CIP hours you can add this in into your SGC first.

We have accepted the invitation already! So please be prepared for it! We are planning to perform Matsuri/Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps. Any other suggestions? It is 1 day after the sfy closing ceremony. So maybe we'll have no time to prac new songs.

HELLO NYCO PEOPLE! Tomorrow is the final showdown. We've come this far, endured much of Ding laoshi's scolding, endured the long ours of practises, juggled school work with SYF, it'll be the last day you'll be going through all these.

No matter what the result is tomorrow, as long as we've done our best on stage, it's already very good already! Don't bother about how other schools fare, what medals are there, we must ENJOY THE MUSIC! Enjoy each and every note that we're playing, cos' it'll be the last time we'll be playing those notes already. So... Put in your best!

We've got great seniors who came down to support us, we musn't let them down either!
We've got the BEST CO teacher i/c, so we musn't let them down too!

Hello! I think very few ppl are reading this. But anyway, today I can see improvement in the practise and I hope this will remain till after SYF, after Japan trip, and just the enthusiasm for music! :D

Let's put in our very best for the remaining 40+ days and no matter what the results is, as long as we've performed our best on stage, I think it's already very good! So let's continue to work hard okay! I can see improvement alrdy! :D

Always remember, look at conductor aka zihui and listen to the music! :D

Alrights, I'm here to revive this blog, since SYF is around the corner.

Well, seriously speaking our standard is way below gold standard and everyone's still showing this heck-care attitude and we keep telling people we want a gold or whatsoever but are we doing anything to improve? Nope.

Anyway, yesterday's practising was tiring and 辛苦大家 for enduring hours in the LT w/o aircon! I know it's mentally exhausting but w/o hardwork, you can't get good results by slacking.

Another thing, we all got to look at the conductor! I realised very few people are looking at her that's why it's often very messy.
Percussion gotta brush up on their skills! Still very off tempo :/
Erhu, intonation and tempo!
I guess it's pretty much the same for the other groups.

And tune your instruments before dazu starts! Or it'll be pure noise you'll be hearing :/

Can we just work doubly hard for the two months left?

Okay the lastest updates from today's meeting! :D

1. FAREWELLL FOR J2s!

TENTATIVELY, it'll be on the 29th Nov, the saturday the A'lvl exam.
What we'll be doing:
I guess we'll have a simple one, with Ex-CO stepping up and down exchange presents, and some small gifts from each section and the whole CO! Maybe some food or we can all go out after it. :D

The J1s: We'll be making the presents the day before at Junxi's house. So if you are interested you guys can come down! Details can ask me online or msg any ex-co members! :D

2. BBQ on the 15th!

The venue is not set yet, I'm waiting for Junxi's reply if his house is available or not we'll have it at the usual place, ECP provided I'm able to book it. So Junxi hurry give me an answer! :D

All will be invited! Seniors, DSA peeps, just everyone! Sorta like a get together and like to thank the seniors for helping CHIO sunday too!

Hello people! :D

Yay, second combined practice after Ding Lao Shi came back from China! Attendance NOT too bad, but can be better! PLease please please practice hard and not forgetting to study too! :D

Oh well, anyway just an update on the small performance we hard at Marine Parade CC for Mr Goh Chok Tong. It was a great performance, both Ms Tans said it was the best outta all the rehearsals we practised! Can see that everyone was very serious although it was just a small small performance. Keep that spirit up for both your studies and CO!

It was a great experience for the people who had peformed and do hope that we do get more of such experiences again!
